Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)
How do I get Reimbursed for my preceptor license?
When you apply for or renew your
preceptor license with the Arkansas State Board of Pharmacy, you pay the fee to
the State Board of Pharmacy. Then, when you get your preceptor license, send a
copy of the license to the Director of Experiential Education (see
How to Contact Us)
with your Social Security Number, and the College of Pharmacy will send you a
check for reimbursement.
How do I apply for the Travel Money to support
Professional Enhancement?
Preceptors are required to submit a brief
written travel request outlining the benefits of the trip at least two months
before the anticipated travel date. There is a Preceptor Travel Committee, made
up of the Director of Experiential Education and five preceptors, that will
review your request and award the money for professional enhancement. To
receive the money, keep up with your receipts while on your trip and submit them
for reimbursement.
How do I become a preceptor for the UAMS College
of Pharmacy Experiential Education Program?
The first thing you need to do is contact
the Arkansas State Board of Pharmacy (501-682-0190) and apply for a preceptor
license if you do not already have one. Then you need to send a letter to the
Director of Experiential Education (See
How to Contact Us)
stating your interest. Once we know that you are interested and have a
preceptor license, we will send you an information sheet to fill out so that we
can add you to our database. We will also schedule a time when the Director of
Experiential Education can come visit your site and answer any questions that
you might have.
If I am a preceptor, will I have students every
month and every year?
The answer is......it depends!?!? When
we schedule the rotations for each year, we do everything that we can to allow
the students to pick their rotation sites as long as they meet the requirements
of the Experiential Education Program. That being the case, it varies from year
to year who will have students and when they will have them. If a lot of the
students are from your area of the state, you could have 5 to 8 months with
students in one year. On the other hand, if the majority of the students are
from the other side of the state, you could have 1, 2, or even no students.
